A concept for a modern sushi bar takes a new and modern approach for a Japanese restaurant. Instead of pandering to existing clichés of Shoji screens, bonsai trees and colorful paper lanterns we go with simple yet substantial visual impact inspired by modern Japanese materials, culture and lifestyle mixed with some Scandinavian elements such as Secto light fixtures, handmade in Finland from Finnish birch by highly skilled craftsmen. Simple, yet beautifully crafted parquet stools are by Jason Lees Design. Art work that is "exposed" behind the natural wood 3D panels is by new Japanese artist Feebee. This artwork provides the only , yet bold, splash of color in this very minimalist space. The Bar area is created with plywood planks of various depths that create storage niches and interesting formation for the drop down ceiling. Dining area is created of various seating groups which helps to divide up the rather large space making it more manageable to take in.
